English Australia and GSS

Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

Dating back to 1982, English Australia (previously known as the ELICOS Association) was established to promote high standards of professionalism throughout the country’s English language teaching industry. The association currently has over 120 members who provide quality English language programs throughout Australia, to students from around the world.

In addition to representing its members in discussions with legislative authorities, English Australia has developed a range of initiatives to support their ongoing professional growth. These include the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework, which enables English teachers to engage in systematic, ongoing development, and the English Australia Awards, which recognise excellence across all areas of ELICOS teaching and operations.

Green Standard Schools is delighted to announce the recent signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation with English Australia. This partnership aims to raise awareness of the importance of incorporating environmental sustainability into the priorities of English Australia’s member institutions. Sustainable development is achievable—but only if schools undertake a comprehensive review of their current policies and practices and actively engage both staff and students in the process. This is where Green Standard Schools can help, and we look forward to collaborating with English Australia and its members to advance this important work.
